Alexis Island, Brazil
A Brazilian businessman who frequently flew into the Recife airport noticed this island from the air and decided he wanted to have it. He built the house over thirty years ago (the house is made from rocks indigenous to the island), and used it as a weekend and summer retreat. The island includes 30 acres, and it is surrounded by the ocean, with three beaches that are ideal for snorkeling or swimming. The primary residence is 1,000 square feet.
Alexis Island is a unique jewel, resting in the clear Atlantic Ocean waters, blessed with sandy beaches, an astonishing natural beauty and a paradisiacal atmosphere. There are no legal restrictions to foreigners or nationals purchasing or owning the island or executing a resort/development construction project.
Location
Located 2 miles off the continent in front of the coastal city of Barra de Serinhaen and 70 kilometers south of the major metropolitan center of Recife, Pernambuco, North East of Brazil.
While it would make an ideal investment for a tourism-based resort the current infrastructure on the island is mainly for private occupancy. Its central plateau is covered in green tropical vegetation with hardwood trees, fruits and flowers. This large flat area offers a number of options for resort development, recreational infrastructure or personal projects. The front beach-hold area with its calm waters facing the continent has plenty of space to build a dock and recreational facilities.
Surrounding Area
With sunny weather 9 months of the year, warm temperatures, emerald green ocean and marvelous beaches this area is ideal for tourism. Several first class hotels have been build in the area and more are under construction. As recognition of its tourist potential, the Brazilian government is implementing a large scale project called Golden Coast designed to attract international tourism investment and more than increase the areas overall value.
The island is next to the popular calm and turquoise beaches of Toquinho, Gamela, Guadalupe and Carneiros. Also close to the rivers of Formoso and Serinhaen, with amazing natural mangrove and river arms penetrating the continent while offering interesting locations for boating and fishing and water sports in general. Within its surroundings you can find important recreational resort locations such as Serranbi and Porto de Galinhas to the north and Tamandare and Sao Jose da Coroa Grande to the south.
South Seas Paradise - Like having your own country
1.5 times the size of Monaco
This island is a unique chance to purchase an entire tropical atoll. Its complete privacy and remote location make it a virtual private kingdom. Entire private tropical atolls are extremely rare and almost never come on the market. The only two other atolls which were previously for sale were Marlon Brandos private island of Tetiaroa located in Tahiti, which was for sale for $80 million. The closest comparable sale is Palmyra, a chain of 54 islets covering 680 acres that Hawaiis Fullard-Leo family sold three years ago for $37 million to The Nature Conservancy.
The atoll consists of 23 islands, of more than 1 acre each, and many smaller ones as well which encircle a massive tropical lagoon, approximately 5 miles at its widest point and greatest length approximately 12 miles. These beautiful Islands are ringed by pristine coral reefs, fringed by 360 degree sugar white beaches and filled with coconut palms, ironwood trees; the best tropical scenery you could ever imagine.
The largest island has countless miles of white sand beaches. It is a private hideaway surrounded by a pristine blue lagoon up to 100 feet in depth with the best diving and snorkeling in the world.
This area has been surveyed by many international agencies who regard the environment as some of the most unique, pristine and untouched marine environments in the world.
Climate
January to March: summer season, considerable humidity.
April to December: Very pleasant - tempered by cooling trades.
Access
The atoll is located in Papua, New Guinea and about 600 miles from Cairns, Australia. There are daily flights on Qantas and Air Nuigini from major cities in Australia to Port Moresby International Airport. From Port Moresby daily flights on Air Nuigini and MBA Airlines operate to the nearest town.
From there the Islands are accessible by boats or ships (of any size). There is a 1,500 foot runway for private aircraft, now overgrown, which could be cleared and restored; and a 9,000 foot runway could be built on the largest island.
There are no inhabitants of the Islands and no business operations have been conducted there for many years.

The island is 225 acres in size, 1 mile long by 1/3 mile wide and 150 feet high, surrounded by a 5,000 acre plus lagoon which almost completely encircles the island, offering protection from extreme tides and providing the island with calm tranquil waters ideally suited for water sports. The crystal clear water has up to 200-foot visibility and is a comfortable 80 degrees Fahrenheit most of the year. The island was a safe haven from storms for Polynesian sailors over the centuries; the entrance to the lagoon is 35 feet deep and about 200 feet wide, and yachts over 200 feet have enjoyed the safety of the lagoon.
The Resort
The island is home to a world class resort which is 80% complete, and could be completed in 6 months upon purchase.
The main complex, comprised of the lobby, lounge, dining pavilion, meeting facilities and full service spa, soars 100 feet above the turquoise lagoon, offering sublime vistas and spectacular sunsets. Spa tubs built for two complete each of the 20 guest bures, which will feature mosquito-netted four-poster beds and sumptuous furnishings.
The architect behind the project has worked on many prestigious properties, including Euro Disney and Disney World in Florida and resort properties for Don Kohl, a southern California property developer.
